" The Retreat"
We are a day habilitation center serving adults that are mentally challenged. We are located in the newly constructed Ministry Building of Holy Cross Lutheran Church located at 4622 S. Lamar (between Westgate and Brodie Lane) We sit on several acres of beautiful property that we share with deer, squirrels, foxes, opossums and a few other critters. We offer a quiet but busy sanctuary to learn, grow in knowledge and skills, share projects with new friends, fun and play time, exercise, lots of music and lots of outdoor games or just sitting in the glider swings, We have picnics, excursions, science lessons, holiday crafts and celebrations, birthday celebrations each month, snack time, educational movies and laughter. Always new friends to get to know and share lunchtime with.
We are sanctioned by the Texas Department of MHMR and have a small ratio of consumers per assistants, which allows for better care, safety for their well being and more attention. We offer classes in cooking, quilting, clay modeling, music lessons for piano and music appreciation. We play volley ball, basketball, horse shoes and kick ball. If someone wants the services of a workshop to earn money, we offer outdoor lawn care and gardening for a part-time job, and the remainder of the day they can have plain ol' fun.
